If you haven’t guessed it by now, yes I am on a mission to watch as many Halloween movies as I can this month. No better time, right? With the city of Montreal being back in a lockdown, it seems like the ideal year to finally indulge in an activity I’ve put off doing for years. And being the generous person that I am, I decided to share my carefully curated 2020 Halloween list.

We’re going to start off with the forgotten oldies. The ones you may have not heard from in a while, but once they’re brought up, all the memories start rushing back. It’s the perfect way to start off this Halloween marathon!
- Don’t Look Under the Bed
- Witches
- Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire
- The Haunted Mansion
- Twitches / Twitches Too
- Phantom of the Megaplex
- Halloweentown
Next are films that have dropped recently that may have slipped past your radar. These are all on the more family friendly/ predictable / feel good side of the list. Not too heavy on the heart or mind. It’s easy going!
- The Babysitter Killer Queen
- Hubie Halloween (twitter is saying this is the terrible movie Sandler promised to curse us with if he didn’t win Best Actor and truly… I believe it may be)
- Vampires vs. The Bronx (read my review here!)
- Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting
- The House With a Clock In Its Walls
- The Witches (2020 version) (Anne Hathaway being the goddess that she is)
- Are You Afraid of the Dark (This is a three part series, the first episode is up on youtube!)
Finally, the horror horror shit. Some are comedic but for a more mature audience but alas, they all look extremely good! Maybe refrain from binging these because based off the trailers most of them seem very heavy on… well everything
- Death of Me
- Save Yourself!
- Black Box
- The Lie (Joey King absolutely killing it again)
- Freaky (a horror twist on Freaky Friday)
- Bad Hair
- Spell
- Nobody Sleeps in The Woods
- Don’t Look Back
- Holidays (short films, black mirror style)
- Scare Me
- The Haunting of Bly Manor (it’s absolutely splendid!)
And that’s all I have for my list! I hope you guys enjoy these films. Most of these are on Netflix with a few on Prime I believe! I’ve added hyperlinks to the trailers for some context. My rule of thumb is to stop watching them after 1:30 minutes, unless you want to run into a spoiler. Stay safe and Happy Halloween!
